The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday, said that he “agreed” with the leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) that the country needs restructuring.
Newsonline reports that Atiku said with restructuring, there will be more inclusivity and “greater opportunities” for Nigerians.
He stressed the “inevitability” of voting out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), due to its poor governance.
“I have just concluded my interactive session with the Christian Association of Nigeria. It was a rewarding experience for me and the leadership of CAN. My policy prescriptions to recover Nigeria appears to align with the demands of the association greatly,” Atiku said via Twitter.
Recall that Atiku and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, met with the CAN leaders at the association’s headquarters in Abuja.
Also on his team to visit the religious leaders was Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the embattled National Chairman of the PDP.
Recall that last week, one of Atiku’s main challengers, Bola Tinubu (APC), also met with CAN.
Messrs Atiku and Tinubu are Muslims.
