Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Acting Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi yesterday vowed to shatter all trade facilitation obstacles and put in place a new culture of consultation and compliance.
He said the service will bridge the gap of human resources.
This Nigeria News platform understands that Adeniyi vowed that the NCS will work to execute career advancement opportunities that the board has put in place, insisting that competence will be the sole determinant for assigning responsibility and rating performance.
He made this known during his inaugural briefing after taking over office from his predecessor Col. Hameed Ali in Abuja.
He said: “Today, we stand at the precipice of an exciting future, one that builds upon the achievements of the past and takes us even further.
” Our administration is committed to adopting a bottom-up approach, where the needs of our dear nation take precedence over everything else.
” We will prioritize efficiency in service delivery as the bedrock of trade facilitation and revenue generation. No longer shall encumbrances impede trade; we shall dismantle obstacles and foster a new culture of consultations and compliance. In order to achieve our objectives, it is imperative that we bridge the current human resource gap within our ranks.
” We recognise the importance of capacity building and career advancement for our officers.
” The administration will work diligently to implement career advancement opportunities approved by the board, ensuring that competence remains sole criterion for assigning responsibilities and measuring effectiveness.”
The Acting Customs boss assured President Bola Tinubu of commitment to the success of his administration.
He said working with all in the service, his team will drive at excellence in order to exceed what is expected of the service.
