At least 700 PDP Members have defected to APC.

 

 

Newsonline reports that the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered major setbacks after over 700 of its loyalists dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The decampees, Newsonline gathered were formally received by the chairman Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i at the party’s headquarters.

 

Leader of the decampees, Comrade Hamisu Bekarya, said, the youths from PDP and other political parties decided to join APC due to its efforts in the development of the country.

“We decided to dump our political parties PDP, SDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) with aims to contribute our quota towards nation building as only APC gives more chances to youths at both local, state and federal government levels”, he said.

Speaking shortly after he received the decampees, the chairman Gumel local government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i, said the decampees would be treated as any member of the party.
