We like to put it on record that while we abhor all forms of violence, we wish to warn that no political party has the monopoly of crude and organized violence.

2023 Election: Peter Obi - Labour Party Suspends National Youth Leader

Labour Party of Nigeria has decried what it described as constant attacks on peace-loving supporters of their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party members by alleged APC supporters in Kastina State.

Newsonline reports that Labour Party said it has become worrisome that Katsina State governor, Bello Masari, who said nobody knew Peter Obi in the North has armed some thugs to be attacking the party’s presidential candidate.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi, who stated this in an interview, on Tuesday called on security agencies to rise up and defend Nigerians who are exercising their rights in a democracy.

Abayomi said, “We note with sadness the mercilessly coordinated attack by the military wing of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kastina State Chapter on the peace-loving Obedient political movement supporters of the Peter Gregory Obi, the incoming President of the federal republic of Nigeria come May 29th, 2022.

“Sadly, with this reprehensible behavior, it is fast getting clearer that the APC has officially adopted violent attacks on LP’s Presidential Candidate support group across the States of the Nation.

“LP finds this trend quite unacceptable and condemns the growing terrorism of APC in virtually some APC-controlled states in the Nation.

“We like to put it on record that while we abhor all forms of violence, we wish to warn that no political party has the monopoly of crude and organized violence.”

He added, “One simply hopes that the security agencies will not continue to appear helpless as this chain of planned and choreographed violence is visited relentlessly on the LP Presidential support groups all over the States under APC in the Country.“

Recall that Labour Party supporters were also on Monday attacked by gunmen, suspected to be political thugs in Enugu state while holding a meeting.
