Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Peter Fayose has refuted allegations that he endorsed the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Newsonline reports that Ayodele Fayose who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said the news-making round was false and fake.

A report, not from Newsonline , had claimed that the former governor of Ekiti State said though he had nothing against the presidential candidate of his party, Atiku Abubakar, he preferred Tinub to him.

According to the report, Fayose tweeted, “I have nothing against Atiku, Peter Obi is not my enemy but JAGABAN is my choice.”

Following the massive reaction the alleged endorsement was generating, Lere Olayinka, Fayose’s media aide, on Tuesday, described the report as fake news.

Olayinka said the report was not true, stating that Fayose “never said anything like that.”

“It is not true. He never said anything like that. Disregard the fake news,” he said.

The former Ekiti governor, Fayose had distanced himself from the PDP and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, after he condemned the party’s presidential primary election in May.

On June 29, Fayose that it was the turn of the South to produce the president of the country following the 8 years of President Muhammadu Buhari who is a Northerner.

He said, “The current President of Nigeria is a 2-term Northern Presidency, thus implying that it MUST be a Southern Presidency in 2023 or NOTHING. Awa ‘South’ lo kan’. Nigerians should await details soon.”

Ayodele added, ” The PDP Constitution provides for a rotational Presidency. Section 3(c) provides that the Party shall pursue its aims and objectives by “adhering to the policy of the rotation and zoning of Party and  Public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness.”
