NLC has urged Nigerians to disregard reports that it would embark on strike protest tomorrow, June 2 over fuel subsidy removal.

NewsOnline reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the general public to disregard stories circulating in the social media space claiming that the congress would commence protest action on Friday, June 2, against the increase in the petrol pump price.

A statement issued by NLC Head of Information and Public Affairs, Benson Upah, indicated that even as the organized labour is outraged by the increase in price of petrol that would bring untold hardship to ordinary Nigerians, the union has no plan to start any action tomorrow.

The statement noted that the congress is only meeting tomorrow to look into the issue and decide on the next line of action, promising to keep Nigerians updated of the outcome.

The new pump price of petrol as approved by the federal government has continued to generate criticisms with many viewing the move as too anti-masses.

However, the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu insisted that the total removal of petrol subsidy was for the good of the nation.
