UBA has kicked off 2025 Christmas Celebration across 24 countries.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc on Monday illuminated the Lagos Marina with a dazzling array of colourful Christmas lights and carols, marking the official start of its 2025 yuletide celebrations and reinforcing an annual tradition observed across its global network.

Group Managing Director/CEO, Oliver Alawuba, led the ceremony alongside deputy managing directors, senior executives and customers. Similar light-up events were simultaneously held in all 24 countries where UBA operates.

Speaking after vibrant performances by the UBA CFC Choir and Lagos Community Gospel Choir, Alawuba described the ceremony as a symbol of renewed hope for the coming year. He noted that the event goes beyond festivities, reflecting UBA’s values of love, unity and community impact.

“We are light unto the world, creating an atmosphere of joy, hope, love and sharing,” he said. “Today officially marks the start of the Christmas season for us, a season defined by love, hope and joy.”

He added that the annual light-up also ushers in the bank’s charitable activities within its host communities. “Christmas is a time for giving and showing love. As always, we will reach out to those who have been with us throughout the year,” he said.

UBA’s Marina Light-Up has become a signature event, underscoring the bank’s commitment to fostering goodwill, strengthening relationships and spreading positivity during and beyond the festive season.

Reaffirming the group’s pan-African identity, Alawuba noted that the ceremony is replicated across all UBA locations. “UBA is one everywhere. With operations in 24 countries across four continents, whatever happens here is happening across our network. We remain dedicated to improving our communities, appreciating our customers and valuing our staff,” he said.

With 25,000 employees and more than 45 million customers worldwide, UBA is one of Africa’s largest financial-sector employers. The bank operates in 20 African countries, as well as the UK, US, France and UAE, offering retail, commercial and institutional banking supported by cutting-edge technology and a commitment to financial inclusion.
