Twitter has started Ad-sharing payments to Nigerian Content Creators.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that X, formerly known as Twitter, has begun payment to Nigerian content creators on the platform through its ad revenue-sharing program, which started last month in the United States.

The ad revenue-sharing program was created by X to increase its paid subscriber base globally, as the owner and billionaire, Elon Musk, looks for methods to ramp up the social media company’s revenue.

Only paid subscribers are eligible for the ad revenue-sharing program, and it cost $8 to join the paid subscriber base. The benefit of the paid subscription includes ad-sharing, a verified checkmark, as well as access to exclusive content locked behind a paid wall on X.

Musk introduced the ad revenue-sharing program amid a drop in advertisements on X. The platform’s revenue is 90 per cent dependent on advertisers, so in other to create other earning sources and reduce its exposure to advertisers’ movement, X began to offer paid-for content and limit access to non-paying Twitter users.

However, paid subscribers who want to benefit from the ad revenue-sharing program must have at least three million impressions in three consecutive months and have over 500 followers.

While the ad revenue-sharing program initially began in the US, it has been extended to Nigeria and other countries where X has a significant presence.

Nigerian content creators on X took to the platform to reveal that Musk has begun payment to content creators who have paid to subscribe on X and also met the requirements for the ad revenue-sharing program.

Revealing X has begun payment, content creator, Solomon Buchi, “I got paid by Twitter, now known as X. I Twitter my opinions, commentators, views, and people are blessed, however, it’s also nice to be paid for it!”

Another content creator on X, General Oluchi, showed her appreciation in a humour tweet, stating: “Elon Musk, shey you dey whine me like this? I don get alert for Twitter ad revenue. Elon Musk, thank you o!”

XBrianDennis, another user on the platform, thanked Musk, while jokingly tackling his friend, MrOdanz, who is against the payment method the CEO employed.

“Thank you @elonmusk  X will succeed whether my brother @MrOdanz likes it or not”, XBrianDennis tweeted.

Napaul, an X user, also shared on Twitter that he received payment after meeting the requirements for ad-sharing.

“Bruh, it’s almost like I’m dreaming tbh. unlike me, I’m struggling to put the words together. YES!! I Woke Up To Credit Alert From Elon Musk!!! & mahn for just tweeting & making myself happy?! E loud i swear”
