Transfer deadline day is upon us and following the weekend’s drama in the Premier League, some will be hoping to be a lot more active than others.


Manchester United will hope to bolster their ranks in attack and defence following a 6-1 capitulation at home to Tottenham but they won’t be the only side looking to strengthen on the final day of the transfer window.

The two sides were unable to agree terms as the Catalans failed to hit City’s valuation of the 19-year-old.

14. Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo joins Benfica on two-year loan deal

Jean-Clair Todibo has signed for Benfica on a two-year loan deal from Barcelona, with an option to buy.

He has moved to the Portuguese giants on a £1.8million loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent for £18million at the end of the temporary spell.

15. CONFIRMED: Fulham sign centre back Joachim Anderson from Lyon

SIMON JONES: It’s a defender Fulham fans! The cottagers have confirmed the loan signing of centre back Joachim Andersen from Lyon.

The 23-year-old has joined the club for an undisclosed fee from the Ligue 1 side.

SIMON JONES: Timo Baumgartl’s move from PSV Eindhoven to Fulham has hit a late hitch and looks to have fallen through.

19. Lyon star Memphis Depay’s ‘move to Barcelona is OFF’

Lyon had reportedly got so far as sending Barcelona the necessary documents to complete the move, but the forward will now be staying in Ligue 1 next season.

Barca going through with a deal depended on the departure of Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United, but that deal falling through means Depay will stay in France.

20. CONFIRMED: It’s done! Edinson Cavani has signed for Manchester United!

SIMON JONES: Cavani is expected to wear the number seven shirt at Manchester United.

United have confirmed the signing of the Uruguayan free agent, following his release from PSG in the summer – the 33-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal on wages of around £210,000-per-week after tax.


21. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has Aston Villa contract TERMINATED

SIMON JONES: Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has left the club after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract.

22. CONFIRMED: Watford’s Gerard Deuloufeu has joined Udinese on LOAN

Udinese have confirmed that they’ve signed the 26-year-old on a season-long loan deal.

The Spaniard has been linked with an exit from Vicarage Road this summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.


23. COMPLETED: Celtic sign Uruguay international Diego Laxalt on LOAN from AC Milan

The Scottish champions have signed the 27-year-old left-sided player, who has been capped 24 times by his country.

Last season he spent the first part of the campaign on loan at Torino, but he returned to the San Siro and played for the Rossoneri during the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign

24. COMPLETED: Southampton’s Wesley Hoedt rejoins Lazio on LOAN

Southampton have now confirmed that defender Wesley Hoedt has rejoined Lazio on loan with an option to buy.

The 26-year-old centre-back moved to Saints from the Italian club in 2017, and has since made 45 appearances in his time at St Mary’s.

25. COMPLETED: Chris Smalling has moved from Man Utd to Roma for £18million

SIMON JONES: This one is now over the line! Smalling’s agent James Featherstone, who had earlier put a private jet on standby with the move still up in the air, posted a photo of the two of them holding a Roma jersey after the deal had been finalised.

Reports claimed Roma submitted the necessary paperwork to the Italian FA just 60 seconds before the deadline in what was a long-running saga to see Smalling earn a permanent return to Italy.

26. SMALLING UPDATE: Paperwork arrived on time as Roma move is COMPLETED

SIMON JONES: Chris Smalling’s representatives have had word from the Italian FA that the paperwork is in order and arrived in time to clear his move to Roma.

It looks as though the £18m deal for Smalling to move from Man Utd to Roma has been completed!

27. Manchester United’s move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is OFF

CHRIS WHEELER: There had been late hope that the move could be revived with Barcelona appearing to soften in their stance for a permanent sale.

United were only interested in a loan deal for the 23-year-old and the two parties have been unable to come to an agreement as a result.

28. Jack Wilshere is to have his West Ham contract TERMINATED by mutual consent

SIMON JONES: The 28-year-old joined the club on a free in 2018 after leaving Arsenal but ankle and groin injuries have hampered his fitness.

Wilshere has played 599 minutes in 16 Premier League appearances – 19 in all competitions – but club and player now seemed to have cut ties.

29. West Ham ‘consider late deadline day LOAN move for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori’

The young centre-back has struggled for regular minutes in recent months, with the signing of Thiago Silva this summer knocking Tomori further down the pecking order.

Chelsea’s failure to offload Antonio Rudiger has also seen an overload of defenders at Stamford Bridge – and West Ham are hoping to capitalise.


30. Juventus complete two-year loan signing of ex-Man Utd target Federico Chiesa
