1. Ahead of his inauguration, the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has promised to take tough decisions to reposition the country for the benefit of the citizens and workers. In a statement to mark the 2023 Workers’ Day, Tinubu solicited the people’s cooperation and support for his incoming administration in fighting poverty, ignorance, disease, disunity, ethnic and religious hate.

2. A joint panel, comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, has invited the suspended Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, over his conduct during the April 15 supplementary elections.

3. Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and now senator-elect for the Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio, has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intent to be President of the 10th Senate. Akpabio, who disclosed this after meeting with the President at his official residence at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Sunday, also promised to work closely with the incoming administration in the interest of the youth.

4. One of the buses conveying stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, to Port Sudan where they will move into Saudi Arabia caught fire in the early hours of Monday. Twenty-six buses conveying the stranded Nigerians left Al Razi around 12 am on Monday for Port Sudan.

5. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) has banned the importation of Indomie noodles into the country. The Director-General of the Agency, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this in an interview with journalists, on Monday.

6. The Egyptian authorities on Monday agreed to allow Nigerians fleeing the war in neighbouring Sudan pass through its country. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), said yesterday that Egypt agreed to open the border after the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.

7. Bandits have killed at least 40 villagers in Kebbi and Zamfara states during a dawn attack on Sunday. It was gathered that six mobile policemen were among the 36 victims killed at Dan Umaru in Zuru area of Kebbi State.

8. Former governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, yesterday, expressed sadness over the killing of 25 members of the All Progressives Congress during the recent general elections, stating that “despite the intimidation, harassment, violence, and killings perpetrated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), people still identified with APC”.

9. Organised Labour, yesterday, raised the alarm over what it described as last-minute looting of the treasury by out-going governors, ministers and other political office holders and called on President Muhammad Buhari to do everything possible to stop them.

10. The Abuja Traders’ Association has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to order the arrest and prosecution of 30 police officers used by a firm to supervise the alleged illegal demolition of structures at the Abuja Shopping Complex. The association also drew the attention of the IGP to the arrest, intimidation and harassment of its executives by the policemen acting on the instruction of the firm.
