1. State chapters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are awaiting the directive of President Bola Tinubu to forward lists of ministerial nominees to the party headquarters for onward transmission to the Presidency. It was however gathered that while the party awaits the directive, bigwigs, including former governors, ex-ministers and other party chieftains have started jostling for ministerial appointments.

2. The National Economic Council, on Thursday, in Abuja, said it considered recommendations from the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission to pay N702bn as cost of living allowance to civil servants as part of intervention plans to mitigate the effects of the discontinuance of petroleum subsidy as announced on May 29, 2023.

3. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is thinking of extending the validity of old naira notes. In an Advisory Report released by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Policy Advisory Council chaired by Senator Tokunbo Abiru, a December 2024 deadline is said to be considered for the old naira notes.

4. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of eight Special Advisers. The announcement was contained in a statement released on Thursday by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director Information, State House.

5. Following the suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa, as Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government, Mr. Abdulkarim Chukkol on Thursday, stepped in as Acting Chairman of the Commission.

6. President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, met with the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the State House, Abuja. The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor hailed the president over his recent moves toward economic recovery.

7. The Nigeria Customs Service, on Thursday, destroyed 96 containers of various illicit and expired drugs worth N12.8bn in Lagos State. Addressing journalists in the Epe area of the state during the destruction of the contrabands, the Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Adonye Dappa-Williams, said the goods were brought for destruction after a court order.

8. A major contender for the 10th Assembly Senate President, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has said that he felt betrayed by the outcome of the 10th Assembly leadership election result. The senators during the inauguration of the 10th Assembly voted for the presiding officers where Senator Godswill Akpabio emerged as Senate President.

9. A Nollywood veteran actor, Don Brymo Uchegbu has died. The Anambra State-born thespian died on Thursday. The 56-year-old actor was said to have died in his sleep. His colleague and friend, Mr. Mayor Ofoegbu, confirmed the development in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday morning.

10. The House of Representatives, on Thursday, rejected a motion seeking to address incessant emigration of youths, especially professionals, to other countries, known in local parlance as “Japa syndrome”. The motion, which was sponsored by the member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, Philip Agbese, was titled “need to declare emigration of young Nigerians abroad A.KA. ‘Japa syndrome’ a national emergency.”
