Tinubu Insists on Subsidy Removal, Praises Governor Mbah In Enugu (VIDEO)

President Tinubu has insisted on subsidy removal and praised Governor Mbah in Enugu State.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has said his administration’s decision to remove fuel subsidies was a “necessary” move to secure Nigeria’s future.

The president made the statement during his visit to Enugu State on Saturday, where he inaugurated several projects completed by Governor Peter Mbah.

Tinubu’s administration had declared an end to the subsidy regime during his swearing-in ceremony in May 2023, leading to a significant increase in the cost of fuel.

However, Tinubu maintained that the removal of fuel subsidies was a crucial step towards building a better Nigeria. He emphasized that the move would ultimately benefit the country, despite the initial challenges it may pose.

 

During his visit to Enugu, Tinubu also praised Governor Peter Mbah for his visionary leadership and promised to work with him to develop the state and the country as a whole. He also commended the governor of Abia, Alex Otti, for his leadership in his state.

The president inaugurated several projects in Enugu, including 30 of the 260 Smart Green Schools, 60 completed Type 2 Primary Health Centres, and 19-kilometre Airport-New Haven – Bisalla and Okpara Square roads built by Governor Mbah’s administration. Other projects inaugurated included the completed International Conference Centre and the state-of-the-art command and control centre with 150 patrol vehicles fitted with AI-embedded surveillance cameras.

 

Among the dignitaries in Enugu include the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, among others.
