A video of Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation agitator saying that he knows how and where to purchase firearms is generating controversy online.

News Online obtained a video of Mr Igboho speaking with a Southwest traditional ruler, about how to get guns for youths he plans to use to forcefully achieve his secessionist aspirations.

According to the video, he said “we should get donations to buy weapons for those who do not have guns. Let us buy for them. If they don’t know where to buy guns, I will buy for them.”

“Let us buy guns for boys. No government can stop anyone from carrying guns at the moment. If they are caught with guns, they should mention my name that I gave them. Let them tell security operatives that Igboho gave them. I am making this video so it would be posted on all social media platforms. We are giving them guns bought to defend ourselves,” he said.

Our correspondent reached out to his media aide, Olayemi Koiki, to confirm where and when Mr Igboho made the comment but he refused to respond to enquiries. The video surfaced online hours after Mr Igboho said SSS, planted ammunition in his house in order to persecute him.

It would be recalled that Mr Igboho’s house in Soka, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State was invaded around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, barely 72 hours before the planned rally in Lagos.

The SSS confirmed the raid in a press conference in Abuja, saying a total of seven AK 47 rifles were recovered, alongside pump action guns and 5,000 rounds of ammunition including other weapons.

The SSS also said two of Mr Igboho’s men were killed in the process while a security agent was shot on the right hand and is currently responding to treatment. Mr Igboho has since been declared wanted by the security operatives.
