Spotify has named Ayra Starr as the Biggest Female Afrobeats Artist of the Year.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that streaming platform Spotify has unveiled its ranking of the Top 5 Female Afrobeats Artists in the Last 12 Months, with Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr claiming the number one spot. The platform described her as “the pop star of Afrobeats.”

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems followed closely in second place, while American-Cameroonian singer Libianca secured the third spot. Aya Nakamura, a Malian-French hitmaker, ranked fourth, with British-Nigerian star Darkoo completing the top five.

Notably absent from the list was South Africa’s Tyla, despite her dominance at major Afrobeats award shows over the past year.

Spotify also published its Top 5 Afrobeats Artists in Latin America, a list completely dominated by Nigerian stars. Rema topped the chart, followed by Ayra Starr, CKay, Burna Boy, and Wizkid in second to fifth positions, respectively.
