NewsOnline Nigeria  reports that Nigerian singer and songwriter Seyi Shay has spoken about her early days working with Afrobeats star Wizkid, revealing how their professional connection grew into a real friendship and mentorship.

In an interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the “Irawo” hitmaker shared how their strong musical chemistry led to multiple collaborations, including their popular song “Crazy.”

She also mentioned that she worked behind the scenes on some of Wizkid’s early projects, providing background vocals before their partnership became widely known.

Seyi Shay shared fond memories of her time working with Wizkid, recalling how their collaborations deepened both their friendship and mutual respect.

“I did Crazy with Wizkid. I featured him on the song, and he featured me on one of his. I also did background vocals for a few of his other tracks. We became genuine friends,” she recounted.

Speaking about his artistry, Seyi Shay described Wizkid as a rare creative genius. “He’s incredibly smart and talented. I’ve seen him record while eating — it blew my mind. He’s like a magician. I’m drawn to people with extraordinary talent. My spirit connects with people who are almost inhumanly gifted,” she said.

Beyond the music, Seyi Shay revealed that Wizkid often offered her valuable advice on handling fame and navigating the entertainment world. “He used to advise me a lot and tell me how people behave in this industry,” she added.
