The Ogun State Police Command has warned residents of Remo in Ogun and the general public to be security conscious until it apprehends a serial killer and rapist who pretends to be Okada operator but targets women for killing and sexual assault.

Newsonline reports that on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said “the modus operandi of the serial killer is to pretend as a commercial motorcyclist popularly known as okada rider and pick his targeted victim as a passenger.”

Oyeyemi said the yet-to-be-identified serial killer’s major targets are women, who innocently enter his motorcycle as passengers. He then takes the suspecting woman passenger to “an isolated area, rape and brutally murder in cold blood.”

Ogun Police Command Advised, “For safety reasons, the command hereby advises that passengers should endeavour to demand the phone number of any okada rider who wants to carry them in the night.

“They should also make a call to such number to ascertain its authenticity.

“This will give security agencies a lead in their investigation in the event of any untoward development.”

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has assured Ogun residents that everything would be done to fish out the serial killer within the shortest possible period.

Remo is located in the Ogun East Senatorial District, consisting of Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Local Government Areas of Ogun.
