Senate has hinted at a possible delay in 2025 budget approval.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Senate has announced that the passage of the N49.7 trillion budget for the 2025 fiscal year may not be possible before January 31.

The development was made known by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, while speaking to newsmen in Abuja.

According to Senator Adaramodu, the budget defence by ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government will commence on January 7. He also stated that the joint committees of the House of Representatives and Senate on Appropriations will present the final report of the budget on January 31.

The appropriation bill, which was presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, has already scaled second reading at both chambers of the National Assembly.
