President Tinubu has come under pressure to sack non-performing Ministers in his cabinet.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has urged President Bola Tinubu to sack non-performing cabinet members.

This Nigeria news platform understands that Abbas, who said this at the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, also advocated the adoption of new strategies to address the widespread insecurity ravaging the country.

He said if not adequately addressed, the security situation could degenerate to threaten the stability of the nation.

The Speaker noted that the security situation in the country has remained unabated despite numerous measures being deployed to tackle it.

He said for this reason, it has become imperative to adopt new approaches in tackling the situation since the conventional approaches being espoused for so long are no longer sufficient.

“The threats of insurgency are severely testing the peace and stability of our country, the rise in kidnapping for ransom and the unsettling unrest and crises across all the six geo-political zones. Families and communities have endured immense hardships, and our hearts go out to all those affected by these tumultuous events,” he said.

Speaking further, Abbas expressed sadness over the tragic murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar and Folorunsho Ariyo by kidnappers and the Plateau massacre that claimed over 100 people as well as the victims of the recent blast in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Furthermore, the Speaker tasked President Tinubu to demand “Greater performance and accountability from our service chiefs and all security and enforcement agencies. I implore the President not to shy away from making the tough decisions. If necessary, we must not hesitate to enact changes within our security apparatus, for the cost of inaction is far too great to bear.”
