Political Looting in Africa By Festus Edovia

Politics, once conceived as a call to service, has been reduced to a profit-driven enterprise. Governance is now treated like a private business, and public office has become a licence to loot.

Looting has become the defining pursuit of many African politicians. What we now witness is no longer mere theft of public funds, but looting of the highest and most shameless order. These leaders plunder national treasuries without conscience, unmoved by the daily suffering of ordinary citizens who die simply because they cannot afford ₦5,000 to treat malaria.

This is the height of wickedness in a world that appears to have lost its moral compass. These politicians steal not only for themselves, but also from unborn generations, mortgaging the future of entire nations. One is left to wonder how human beings can be so heartless and so detached from the pain of the people they claim to serve.

Politics, once conceived as a call to service, has been reduced to a profit-driven enterprise. Governance is now treated like a private business, and public office has become a licence to loot.

This trajectory is unsustainable. A nation cannot survive when its leaders believe the country belongs to them alone. Enough is enough. The continuous looting of national wealth by self-serving politicians must stop for the sake of the present generation and those yet unborn.
