The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has assured the people of Plateau State and all Northerners that their region will be dotted with agricultural industries if elected to be the president of Nigeria in 2023 election.
Newsonline reports that Peter Obi stated all promises which other politicians have been making to Nigerians without fulfillment, will be a thing of the past if the citizens give him their votes.
The Labour Party presidential candidate stated this on Wednesday, in Jos, Plateau, while addressing the state citizens who gathered at Rwang Pam Township Stadium, on the visitation of Middle Belt Forum.
The Middle Belt Forum had organized the rally to welcome the former governor of Anambra State and his vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.
The youths choice called on all supporters who are known as ‘Obidients’ to engage in peaceful mobilization and campaign for his ambition as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lifted the ban on campaign on 28 September for the 2023 election.
In his address to the crowd that filled the stadium beyond its sitting capacity, Peter Obi said, My fellow Nigerians and OBIdients, I join you today as we mark the formal start of the 2023 campaign season. We must all reflect on the journey we are embarking upon. We seek a new nation, but to arrive there, we need prayers and courage.
“As we head into her next presidential elections in 2023; we aim to canvass for electoral legitimacy, as means to governance legitimacy. So we must do three things urgently.
“We must pray for peaceful and successful elections; for the turnaround of our country and for the security of the members of the OBIdient Family and every participant including the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC throughout the duration of the exercise.
“We must summon up courage. The courage to stand up for what is right; to make the much-needed sacrifices and ultimately, to rescue our country from those who have perfected State Capture.
“We must recommit ourselves to an issues-based campaign. Let us pray for a peaceful and issue-based campaign that will eventually lead to God’s desire for a president that will be best suitable for our great country moving forward.”
He added, The Obi-Datti administration represents, the HOPE, AND PROMISE for a united, secure and productive Nigeria and a transformative leadership that is imbued with competence, capacity, credibility and commitment. These 4Cs,are leadership competencies required to turn Nigeria around.
“As a President elected by all Nigerians, Plateau state will not only host several potato chips processing companies, which will create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, but other parts of the North will be dotted with several agro-processing industries.
“I promise Nigeria’s equal opportunities in all sectors, improved power generation, practical war against insecurity and other forms of criminality, access to education and an end to endless unfulfilled promises.
“Our administration will ensure that Nigerians are fully protected in their homesteads: and that their lives, properties and means of livelihood will always be secured. That, after all, is the Primary Responsibility of government.
“We have no other country but Nigeria and we must learn to respect each other, tolerate and do things accordingly in order to create an atmosphere that will usher in unity, progress and the greatness we were destined for from inception.”
He maintained that “God Almighty has blessed Nigeria. It is our job to make this country flourish once again, to regain her pride and to be a nation, where no one is oppressed. Thank you all. God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Earlier the former governor of Anambra State pledged to address all issues concerning electricity which he was was important to move the country from consumption to production.
Peter Obi stated that it was worrisome that the national grid of the country continues to break down without the Federal government addressing the issue head-on.
He said, The report of yet another national grid collapse is very disturbing to me, and is a reminder of the long rescue and recovery journey ahead of us. Effective power generation, transmission and distribution remain a national security issue.
“This also places power in the front burner of campaign and policy. Painfully, this latest episode is the 7th national grid collapse in 2022. As part of the Obi-Datti policy plan, we have put together a strategic plan to progressively scale up power generation, and the liberalisation of the transmission infrastructure in the country, to ensure that Nigerians enjoy adequate and stable power supply from 2023 onwards. Power is critical to the development and sustainability of all sectors of the national economy.
“For us, power remains a top priority. Under my watch, national grid collapse will become a matter of history and a reference point for erstwhile administrations.”
