Peter Obi, Modi, Macron Mourn Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

India Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; France President, Emmanuel Macron; and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, have mourned the death of Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI.

 

Newsonline reports that Peter Obi, Modi and Macron, described Pope Benedict XVI, born Joseph Ratzinger as a man who loved God and humanity.

 

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, Nigeria, a papal knight of St Mulumba, in his condolence message said, Pope Benedict’s departure from earth has left an indelible historical mark.

“Farewell Pope Emeritus, Pope Benedict XVI. Over the years, Pope Benedict remained a real shepherd of God’s people. He left indelible historical marks. His service to God and to humanity as a Priest, Archbishop, Cardinal and Pope bore eloquent witness to his genuine love for God and man. Rest on Pope Benedict XVI,” Peter Obi said.

 

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi said Pope Benedict XVI devoted his life to the teachings of Lord Christ. He added that the late pontiff will be most remembered for his service to humanity.

 

Modi said, “Saddened by the passing away of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who devoted his entire life to the Church and the teachings of Lord Christ. He will be remembered for his rich service to society. My thoughts are with the millions around the world who grieve his passing.”

 

France’s President, Emmanuel Macron, in his condolence message on his Twitter handle, written in French, said the late Pope Emeritus worked with his soul and intelligence for a more fraternal world.

 

Macron said, “Mes pensées vont aux catholiques de France et du monde, endeuillés par le départ de Sa Sainteté Benoît XVI, qui œuvra avec âme et intelligence pour un monde plus fraternel.”

 

Google translation of Macron’s condolence to English, “My thoughts go out to Catholics in France and around the world, bereaved by the departure of His Holiness Benedict XVI, who worked with soul and intelligence for a more fraternal world.”
