PDP Screens Aspirants For Edo National Assembly By-Elections

Governor Monday Okpebholo vacated the Edo Central Senatorial seat following his victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

PDP has screened aspirants for Edo National Assembly By-Elections.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State on Tuesday, screened aspirants for the state’s Central Senatorial District and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections.

 

Recall that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  will conduct by-elections in the areas on August 16 to fill the two seats in the National Assembly.

Governor Monday Okpebholo vacated the Edo Central Senatorial seat following his victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

 

The Ovia Federal Constituency seat was vacated by the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa.

 

The aspirants for the Edo Central Senatorial District seat are John Yakubu, Friday Itulah, Joseph Okojie, and Festus Edogun.

 

Johnny Aikpitanyi is the only aspirant or the Ovia Federal Constituency seat.

 

The screening committee is headed by Prof. Okumoko Tubo Pearce with Arc Chinomso Odoemelan as Secretary.

 

Other members are Inemo Dede, Evelyn Promise and David Omare.

 

In his address at the forum. the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state, Tony Aziegbemi, expressed confidence that the party would win the by-election.
