The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Head of New Media, Anthony Ehilebo, has said it would be foolish for the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, to bite his nose to spite his face following his anger against Ayu and Atiku.

Newsonline reports that Ehilebo said the call for the resignation of Ayu Iyorchia, the party’s national chairman by Wike and his camp members was unfortunate.

He said the PDP cannot afford to stay another eight years as an opposition party to allow the country to experience another round of hardship brought by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ehilebo said for Wike and his camp to work for another party or presidential candidate would be counter-effective as they are not sure they would fit into any new party.

The Head of New Media of the PDP in an interview on Friday, advised that was most important is not the resignation of Ayu, but for all party stakeholders to work together tp ensure the victory of their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election.

He said, “The most important thing is that everybody is a stakeholder in this project. You cannot be aggrieved to bite your nose to spite your face. The most important thing is for us to win an election. We have been out of government for 8 years.

“Do you want to stay for another 8 years? Those people who are saying they will work against the party, are they sure they will have a new home with the people they are going to work with? Are they sure these people are going to deliver the dividends of democracy like PDP did?

“These are unknown factors. Why don’t you work with the party?

“We don’t have a dog in the party. The only person we have is the candidate and we want our candidate to win.

“Ayu is not a dog in the fight. If he has started as the party chairman and produced a candidate, let him deliver the candidate. It’s as simple as that.

“We agitated for the removal of Secondus. We cannot agitate again. We don’t change chairman like that”.
