The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it has no plan to leave behind Wike, Makinde, Ortom and other aggrieved members of the party.
Newsonline reports that Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition PDP said the party leadership will continue to engage in reconciliation until it gets all members back to the mission of the party which is to wrest power out of the hand of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who stated this on Friday, in Abuja said the party is exploring other options to mend the fence.
Recall that Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor and other governors in his camp, including, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State have refused to work for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, until their request is met by the party leadership.
Wike and his camp are demanding the resignation os the party’s national chairman Ayu Iyorchia, stating that the national chairman of the party and the presidential candidate cannot come from the same Northern region.
Debo said “We have an internal conflict resolution mechanism, we can’t give up hope on reconciliation, because this party is PDP, not an individual. We don’t give commands, we don’t give instructions, we negotiate.
“As a party, we are very confident that Governor Wike, other governors and other members of our party who have issues to deal with remain important. But irrespective of other divides, misunderstandings or differences we are all united to rescue our country from the rudderless APC government.”
