I don’t even want to talk about Rivers State, in Ogu/Bolo, one project that he brought down to Rivers State. Is there any?

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said he would guarantee that all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the state from the House Of Assembly will be delivered at the 2023 general election, but the presidential candidate of the party will not win the state.

Newsonline reports that Wike stated this in reaction to a statement credited to Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization Director General in the state, Abiye Sekibo, in the state.

Governor Wike who has been in conflict with the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, added that Sekibo may boast of controlling members of his campaign organization but cannot determine what will happen in the state.

Wike who stated during the inauguration of 319 Ward and 32 Constituency Liaison Officers in Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday, said Sekibo, former Minister of Transportation, should be ashamed of his time as Transport minister, in which the state benefitted nothing from him.

“PDP will win our state. I am not hiding it as far as the governorship, House of Reps, Senate, and State Assembly is concerned. The other one we have not decided until the right thing is done,” Wike said.

In a statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant on Media to Governor Wike and made available to journalists, on Monday, the Rivers State governor who is fighting along with his camp members, including the governors of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, Benue State, Samuel Ortom, Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu and Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for the removal or resignation of the national chairman, added that Sekibo has lost political value in the state.

The statement read in part, “I watched a video when one Dr Abiye Sekibo, while he was addressing people in his house yesterday (Sunday), said he is the director of Atiku’s Supporters in Rivers.
“I have no problem with that. But he cannot speak on behalf of Rivers State.

“In that video, he said that Rivers State has been having a close relationship with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that Rivers State has always benefited from Atiku Abubakar.

“I want to correct one impression, Abiye Sekibo has a personal relationship with Alhaji Atiku, not Rivers State.

“Dr Abiye Sekibo was Minister of Transport when Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was the Vice President of Nigeria. Can you people mention one project in Okrika? I don’t even want to talk about Rivers State, in Ogu/Bolo, one project that he brought down to Rivers State. Is there any?”
