With Only Seven Governors Working For Atiku, He Cannot Win- Oshiomhole

Former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole has backed the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on the disagreement between him and the presidential candidate of PDP Atiku Abubakar and the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Newsonline reports that Oshiomhole said the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party to zone its presidential candidate to the North which produced Atiku was an injustice to the South after the North had had their turn in eight years.

Oshiomhole who stated this on Wednesday while commissioning the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state, said the PDP’s decision was in disagreement with the decision of Southern Governors Forum who agreed in March that a Southerner should replace President Buhari.

The former National chairman of the All Progressives Congress said, “so if you voluntarily reach an agreement, you are expected to obey your agreement. Now, if you disobey the agreement and said, ‘No, I will stand with the agreement’, what is wrong with that?”

Earlier in his address, the governor of Rivers state, Wike also regretted that the country does not like people who are “too straight”.

Wike said the removal of Oshiomhole as APC national chairman by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court on March 4, 2020, showed that the country has a long way to go in getting it right.

He, however, added that Oshiomhole’s removal was to the advantage of the PDP which had breathing space after his removal, adding that the former APC national chairman was problem on the flesh of the PDP as national chairman.

He said, “Nigerians don’t like anything that is too straight. They will find a way to circumvent it to make sure the person who wants to do the right thing is taken out, but God’s time is the best, and I believe that is God’s time.

“If God didn’t sanction it, it won’t have happened even though we were very happy because you were too strong for us.

“Sometimes the opposition doesn’t know what to say again. So, the day you were removed, we said God thank you that this trouble man has gone. He has given us a lot of heat. You can see how comfortable we are now.”
