Ohanaeze has vowed to petition Buhari and NASS over Igbo Profiling and Lagos Attacks.

NewsOnline reports that the Council of Elders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Wednesday, resolved to petition President Muhammadu Buhari over the Igbo profiling in Lagos State since the commencement of the 2023 general elections.

The group also said they would send a protest letter to the National Assembly and other relevant agencies to communicate their feelings over the attacks on Igbos in Lagos.

Ohanaeze revealed this in a communique issued after the Elders in Council Virtual Meeting held in Enugu and signed by the Chairman, Council of Elders, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Secretary-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okey Emuchay, and others.

According to them, they will formally petition Buhari to express their disappointment and sadness over the unfortunate development.

They noted that a high-powered Igbo delegation would be sent to Lagos to meet with some Leaders of the state with a view to establishing a lasting peaceful and cordial relationship between the Igbo and the Yoruba in Lagos.

They said, “Amongst other terms of reference, the report must indicate: the number of Igbos killed, the number of Igbos injured and hospitalized, number of Igbos permanently incapacitated.

“The report shall include the comprehensive report of Igbo assets and property destroyed, including the burning of the market.

“These unpatriotic Nigerians destroyed properties belonging to the Igbo. For example, a whole market was burnt. The information available to us reveal that they are still threatening the lives of Igbos and their property in Lagos State.”

Recall that during the governorship election in March, some thugs believed to be loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, issued warnings to Igbos against coming out to cast their votes.

The attacks followed the victory of Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, in Lagos.
