1. The United States Department has cleared the sale of 12 AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopters to Nigeria, worth nearly $1bn, apparently after U.S. lawmakers lifted objections over human rights concerns. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency, on Thursday, announced the sale of the helicopters and related defence systems to the Nigerian military.

2. There was pandemonium on Thursday as gunmen, numbering 12, attacked some adhoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Nkwo Ihitte market, Imo State. It was learnt that the INEC adhoc staff were registering members of the community for the 2023 general elections when the gunmen attacked them. The INEC officer in charge of the registration process was shot by the unknown gunmen.

3. President Muhammadu Buhari has released a message to Christians on the occasion of the Easter festivities, saying as the nation gradually prepares for another general election, security and the unity of the nation should be the guiding principles for the actions and utterances of citizens. In the message penned by the President, he said love and the spirit of forgiveness should radiate from Christians during this period which also coincides with the Muslim fasting.

4. Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has urged the entire members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to refrain from involvement in any form of violence that will result in further incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, their leader. The group, while assuring that efforts are being made to ensure Kanu’s unconditional release, advised IPOB and any splinter group to shun any form of violence, especially at this Easter period.

5. President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has called on the police and other security agencies to investigate the death of gospel artiste, Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu. Lawan spoke during a plenary session on Thursday before the Senate held a minute silence in honour of Osinachi.

6. Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad has said President Muhammadu Buhari has never interfered in judicial cases. The CJN spoke at the Aso Villa during the Iftar dinner hosted for the leadership of the nation’s judiciary on Thursday night.

7. The Senate has received the Money Laundering and Terrorism Prevention Bills transmitted by President Muhammadu Buhari for expeditious consideration and passage. The bills were accompanied by a letter read at the start of the plenary on Thursday by the Senate President, Ahamad Lawan.

8. The Supreme Court has granted the request for the extradition of a Nigerian, Princewill Ugonna Anuebunwa, wanted in the United States for his alleged complicity in some criminal activities. The extradition request was made by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, through the Central Authority Unit (CAU) of the Federal Ministry of Justice, headed by Akutah Pius Ukeyima.

9. The Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, Elon Musk, has offered to buy micro-blogging and social media platform, Twitter, for $43 billion. Musk announced the offer in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.

10. This season’s UEFA Europa League (UEL) quarter-final stage concluded on Thursday evening. Eintracht Frankfurt, Rangers, RB Leipzig and West Ham are through to the semi-final stage after beating the likes of Barcelona, Braga, Atalanta and Lyon, respectively.
