1. Barring any last-minute change of plans, the Federal Government will begin payment of the planned increase in civil servants’ salary by the end of this month (April). This followed the plan by the federal government to remove fuel subsidy by June.

2. The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday ordered the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, to stay away from the commission’s state office. INEC’s action was premised on Yunusa-Ari’s declaration of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani as the governor-elect in Saturday’s supplementary election.

3. The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Monday, granted a bishop, Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, who was accused of raping two of his church pastors (names withheld) bail. Justice Ramon Oshodi however remanded Oluwafeyiropo who is the founder of I Reign Christian Ministry in Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending when he can perfect his bail conditions.

4. A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has reportedly sold her 18-month-old baby for N600,000 to offset her bank loan. The suspect, who lives in Sango in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, reportedly left her house for Lagos where she sold the baby to a yet-to-be-identified buyer.

5. The Nigeria Labour Congress has vowed to resist any plot to derail the Labour Party, especially now that it is enjoying wide acceptance by Nigerians. The vow was made on Monday, when the leadership of the labour union stormed the national secretariat of the Labour Party at Utako in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to show solidarity with the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure, amid tight security.

6. Many residents have been reportedly killed and houses burnt in a crisis that ensued between herders and farmers in Mai Tumbi community of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau. It was gathered that the clash started on Friday, and is still on at the time of filing this report.

7. Gunmen have abducted eight people in Owukpa community in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State. Locals said that the incident happened on Sunday evening along Atamka-Ugbugbu road, Owukpa, while the victims were returning from a village market, Ahor-Ogbo Market.

8. The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday, vowed to resist any attempt to upturn the electoral victory of its candidate, Aishatu Dahiru Binani who was declared winner after Saturday’s supplementary elections by the State’s REC, Hudu Yunusa Ari. The party at a press conference held in Yola bemoaned the negative propaganda spread on the media by agents of the PDP to discredit the process that produced Binani as winner of the keenly contested election.

9. The performance of the naira was mixed across the various market segments in the currency market on Monday. At the parallel market, the naira weakened by 0.41 per cent to close at N741 against the greenback, while at the I&E window, the naira strengthened by 0.38 per cent to close at N462.25/dollar against Friday’s exchange rate of N464.00/$1.

10. A 30-year-old man, Abubakar Abdulaziz, of Sabuwar Santa, in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State is now in police custody after he allegedly kidnapped and buried a three-year-old boy alive. Abdulaziz was said to have buried the abducted boy alive despite collecting N150,000 out of the N800,000 ransom he demanded from his father.
