1. The Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have given conditional support for the removal of fuel subsidy. The two labour bodies said they would only allow the removal of fuel subsidy if the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu takes steps towards the repair and revitalisation of government refineries across the country and allow modular refineries.
2. The Police in Abia Command has alleged that an attack on its men by some elements of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) resulted in the death of five members of the proscribed group. The claim is contained in a statement by the Command’s PRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna, on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Mr Mustapha Bala.
3. Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday arrested the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, Fredrick Nwajagu, who vowed to invite members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to secure properties of Igbo people in the state.
4. Governor-elect of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida, has asked lenders to seek permission from him before granting any loan to the administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The incoming governor gave the directive a few hours after Ganduje countered him over a public advisory on government lands.
5. The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a prime suspect Arome Danjuma who allegedly ambushed and stripped a girl naked in a viral video. Danjuma, alongside his friend who is currently at large, were reported to have carried out the dastardly act in Achigili village around Abocho under Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi.
6. Policemen have arrested three lawyers who are reportedly filing processes for the All Progressives Congress at the election petition tribunal in Port Harcourt. The lawyers are said to be preparing petitions against the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the just concluded governorship election in Rivers State.
7. Amotekun Corps, the southwest security outfit, foiled a robbery attack on vehicles on the Akure-Ilesa Expressway on Friday and recovered a vehicle loaded with engine oil. Commander of the corps in Osun retired Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi told newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday that the robbers attacked vehicles at the Ileki/Osu axis of the Ilesha-Akure Road for close to an hour.
8. Gunmen on Friday evening went berserk, killing over 15 persons in Garin Baka village in Ardo Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State. A distraught villager, Mr Yakubu Garba, told newsmen that the attackers came in while prayers were ongoing at the village mosque and started shooting sporadically, leading to the death of more than 15 persons.
9. The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has warned those agitating for an interim national government following the emergence of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to desist. The chairman of the Kwara State chapter of ACF, Mohammed Ghali-Alaaya, said those agitating for an interim government should be arrested and prosecuted for treason.
10. British-Nigerian fighter, Anthony Joshua, has returned to the path of victory, beating Jermaine Franklin to stage a comeback after strings of losses. AJ made his return to the ring for the first time since his back-to-back loss to Ukrainian war hero, Oleksandr Usyk.
