1. A Federal Capital Territory High Court has remanded the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, in Kuje prison. Emefiele is standing trial on alleged procurement fraud. The trial which had been stalled on three occasions finally held on Friday.

2. The Nigeria Police has handed over 26 illegal aliens who were arrested in Ayua, near Auchi last week to the Nigeria Immigration Service for interrogation. The spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who disclosed this on Friday in Benin, said the foreigners were moved to the custody of the Edo State Command of NIS on Monday, November 13, 2023.

3. Hoodlums have reportedly killed two policemen attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command. The incident, it was gathered, took place at Nwofe, a suburb of the Abakaliki metropolis in Izzi Local Government Area, where the victims were part of a patrol team on surveillance on Friday morning.

4. No fewer than four suspects have been paraded by the Gombe State Police command over the murder of 16-year-old Alamin Ahmadu. Investigations by the police revealed that one of the suspects, 25-year-old Ahmadu Ibrahim, was an apprentice who masterminded the kidnap and murder of Alamin, his boss’s son.

5. The leadership of the Social Democratic Party has said it would challenge the results of the November 11, 2023, Kogi governorship election. The SDP said that it had noticed significant anomalies that affected the election’s result in some voting centres that should have produced a different winner than Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress and that Muritala Ajaka of the SDP ought to have been declared winner.

6. Incumbent governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, his Bayelsa State counterpart, Douye Diri and newly elected governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo were on Friday presented with their Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The three of them emerged winners in the November 11 off-cycle governorship elections held in their various states.

7. The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday upheld the nullification of the election of Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) by the state election petition tribunal. The Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had, in its judgment on September 20 declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the duly elected governor of the state.

8. President Bola Tinubu on Friday announced the cancellation of the automatic deduction of 40 percent from federal universities’ Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, conveyed the President’s announcement during his speech at the 75th Founders’ Day ceremony of the University of Ibadan (UI).

9. The new Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has vowed to work tirelessly to put an end to the unlawful sit-at-home order that has crippled the socio-economic activities of the state. Speaking at the maiden conference with the strategic managers of the command on Friday, Danjuma said he would restore public confidence and ensure people go about their lawful businesses without fear of being attacked by criminally-minded elements in the state.

10. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, said they are not afraid of facing the ousted governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, and his New Nigeria People’s Party at the Supreme Court following their loss at the Court of Appeal on Friday. The immediate past governor of Kano also hailed the judiciary for living up to expectations.
