1. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has directed banks to vacate a post-no-debit restriction placed on the bank accounts of 440 individuals and companies. A post-no-debit means that all debit transactions, including ATMs and cheques, on the accounts have been blocked but can receive inflows. This was contained in a circular, signed by A.M. Barau for the CBN.

2. President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, received in audience the immediate past National Chairman and the Secretary of the governing All Progressives Congress, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, respectively, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. Though the details of the meeting could not be ascertained yet, it is believed to be connected to the issues surrounding the party’s leadership.

3. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has insisted that the declaration of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president is unlawful and unconstitutional. He stressed that Tinubu must be removed from office to sanitise the country’s polity. Atiku stated this in his final address to support his petition seeking nullification of Tinubu’s victory.

4. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Tuesday night declared an indefinite nationwide strike. President of the association, Dr Orji Emeka Innocent said the strike will commence at 12 midnight on Tuesday.

5. There was a rowdy session on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday over an allegation by Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) that property in lawmakers’ offices were looted at the end of 9th National Assembly in June. This followed a point of order by Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), who faulted Oshiomhole’s claim.

6. Some elders from the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have risen in opposition to what they described as “relentless attempts” by former President Goodluck Jonathan to take the state’s ministerial slot in President Bola Tinubu’s yet-to-be formed cabinet.

7. Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have re-arrested the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The DSS seized Emefiele shortly after its operatives physically fought off operatives of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) who attempted to take Emefiele away in compliance with the order of Justice Nicholas Oweibo.

8. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial list will be delivered to the Senate on Thursday, it has been learnt. The Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele disclosed this while giving a response at his 60th Anniversary Lecture and Book Presentation titled: “Leadership through communication” in Abuja.

9. The Senate on Tuesday urged the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) to halt their proposed tariff increase and “allow Nigerians to breathe.” The Senate also urged DisCos to henceforth allow Nigerian communities to recover their cost of buying an electricity transformer before asking them to pay bills.

10. President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians in the Diaspora that his administration will be friendly to them. He said his government would provide an enabling platform for effective policies for the Diaspora, with a view to galvanizing support for the new administration and concretising the nation’s democracy, setting a good example for other African countries.
