1. President Bola Tinubu on Friday appointed Dr Olayemi Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, replacing Folashodun Shonubi who has headed the bank in acting capacity since the President suspended Godwin Emefiele. The Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity), Ajuri Ngelale, who disclosed this in a statement, said the President also nominated four deputy governors to the apex bank.

2. The Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul-Samad Rabiu says the company is set to reduce the price of cement in Nigeria. He disclosed this on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

3. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has sacked the Commissioner who threatened judges presiding over governorship elections petition tribunal in the State. In a video which has gone viral on social media, the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Adamu Kibiya, was heard asking the judges to choose between their lives and their work while delivering judgement.

4. A United Arab Emirates (UAE) official has contradicted the claim by the Nigerian government that it has lifted the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers. In its statement, the Middle East country said Nigeria and the UAE would work together to reinforce their ties and explore opportunities for further bilateral collaborations but insisted that the travel ban has not been lifted.

5. President Bola Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Dattijo served as Commissioner for Budget and Planning under the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.

6. Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that he has no intention of signing any resignation letter. Aiyedatiwa, who denied knowledge of any purported pre-signed resignation letter being circulated in the public domain, said he took an oath the day he was sworn in along with the Governor on February 24, 2021, to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on a four-year mandate which terminates in February 23, 2025.

7. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Friday, September 15, handed over vehicles to ten 3rd Class Chiefs in Abuja. The 3rd Class Chiefs were from Gomani, Yaba, Bwari, Pai, Garki, Jiwa, Wako, Rubochi, Gwargwarda, and Zuba Chiefdoms.

8. President Bola Tinubu will on Sunday depart Abuja to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States of America (USA). This was disclosed to journalists during a briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

9. The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra Sector Command, has said five women were killed when a container fell on a commercial bus at Odumodu junction, Nteje-Awka, Anambra State. The State Sector Commander, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Awka on Friday, adding that the container fell off a trailer and crushed the nearby bus.

10. The Nigerian Army has said its troops from Operation Hadarin Daji have successfully rescued 17 kidnap victims and some rustled cattle. In a statement by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim issued on behalf of the Force Information Officer, Operation Hadarin Daji, he said troops thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued two victims and a commercial vehicle conveying food items in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
