1. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has commenced the process of registering its over 40 million members electronically to consolidate its membership strength ahead of the 2027 general elections. The National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje said this at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
2. The federal government has moved the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to the Ministry of Interior as part of efforts to resolve issues around passport processing in the country. The National Identity Number (NIN), domiciled in NIMC, is one of the major conditions for obtaining International Passports.
3. Thousands of Muslim faithful converged on an open space in Hong, administrative headquarters of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday, to offer special prayers for rain. The special prayer, known as “Salatul Istisqa’a”, was held to seek divine intervention for rainfall so as not to affect bumper harvest.
4. The proposed strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) will be counter-productive if it goes ahead, private employers of labour cautioned on Wednesday. According to them, the NLC should seek better opportunities for its members to cushion subsidy removal pain through dialogue with the government.
5. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged the new commissioners to cooperate with members of the House of Assembly in the discharge of their duties. He spoke yesterday at the swearing-in of the 37 commissioners and special advisers at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Governor advised the commissioners and SAs to build on the successes recorded in the administration’s first term.
6. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said 13 states and 50 communities, mostly in the North, are likely to witness heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding between September 13 and 17. NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye announced this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
7. The House of Representatives has dismissed a statement that each member of the National Assembly collected N100 million as palliative. A statement credited to the National Assistant General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Christopher Onyeka had claimed that the executive arm gave federal lawmakers the sum as palliatives.

9. Vice president Kashim Shettima on Wednesday departed Nigeria to represent President Bola Tinubu at the G77 Leaders’ Summit in Havana, Cuba, holding from Sept. 15 to 17. The Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, Mr Olusola Abiola, in a statement, said Shettima would join other world leaders, including the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Gutteres, at the Summit.
10. One person was feared killed as flood wreaked havoc at Gate House, Gold Crescent, Lagos State Development and Property Corporation Bungalow Scheme, Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos. The residents expressed fear over flooding that continually threatened the safety of lives and property within the estate.
