NDLEA has slammed eight-count drug charges against Sulaiman Danwawu.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed an eight-count charge against Sulaiman Danwawu, a 37-year-old suspected drug kingpin, at the Federal High Court in Kano.

This Nigeria news platform recalls that Danwawu was initially arrested on May 10 by the Kano State Police Command alongside other suspects before being handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.

According to the charge sheet obtained from the court, Danwawu is accused of illegal possession of various controlled substances including Tramadol, Rohypnol, Cannabis Sativa, Pregabalin, and Codeine-laced cough syrup—drugs categorized as narcotics under Nigerian law.

The offenses allegedly took place in Cairo Street, Tudun Yola area of Gwale Local Government, Kano State, on different dates in May 2025. The NDLEA stated that Danwawu had no lawful authority for possessing the substances, in contravention of Section 19 of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

If convicted, Danwawu faces severe penalties under Nigeria’s anti-narcotics laws as authorities intensify the crackdown on drug-related crimes in the region.
