Lagos Taskforce has denied land grabbing allegations and declared viral video as misleading.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Taskforce has dismissed claims of involvement in a land-grabbing incident, describing a viral video circulating online as misleading and unverified.
In a statement issued on March 20, 2026, and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency refuted allegations made in a video published by Objectv reporter, Segun Olawoye.

The Taskforce stated that contrary to the claims in the video, its officials were not involved in any land dispute but were deployed strictly to maintain law and order at the scene.
According to the agency, the situation stemmed from an ongoing property dispute between two parties, with a subsisting court order directing both sides to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of the case.
However, the Taskforce alleged that one of the parties violated the court order by forcefully taking control of the property with the support of armed thugs, thereby escalating tensions.
Following petitions to the state government and the police, and after initial efforts to resolve the conflict failed, the Taskforce said it was invited to intervene to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
“The presence of our officers at the location was solely to ensure peace, protect lives and property, and enforce compliance with the rule of law,” the statement noted, stressing that the agency did not engage in any form of land grabbing.
The Taskforce further stated that the viral video itself showed no evidence of assault, adding that individuals at the scene were freely recording events, while normalcy was eventually restored.
It criticized the report by Olawoye for lacking proper investigation and due diligence, noting that the publication misrepresented a lawful intervention as misconduct.
The agency also raised concerns over what it described as a pattern of unverified reporting by Objectv, warning that such actions could mislead the public and undermine efforts to maintain peace.
Reaffirming its mandate under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018, the Taskforce said it remains committed to enforcing the law without fear or favour.
The agency urged members of the public to disregard the viral video and any claims linking it to land-grabbing activities, insisting that its actions were lawful and aimed solely at preserving order pending the court’s final decision.
