NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is the body responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and regulating the admission process into various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Every year, millions of candidates sit for the UTME and compete for limited admission slots in universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other institutions.
One of the factors that determine the chances of getting admission is the JAMB cut-off mark. This is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the UTME to be eligible for admission into a particular institution or course. The JAMB cut-off mark varies from year to year and from institution to institution. It also depends on the performance of candidates in the UTME and the availability of admission spaces.
In this blog post, we will provide you with the latest information on the JAMB cut-off mark for 2024/2025 academic session. We will also answer some frequently asked questions about the JAMB cut-off mark and how to calculate your aggregate score.
The JAMB cut-off mark for 2024/2025 has been officially announced by the board at the 2024 Policy Meeting of Tertiary Institutions in Abuja on Saturday. The board has pegged 140 as a cut-off mark for admission into universities. The board has also fixed 100 as the minimum cut-off point mark for admission into polytechnics and colleges of education, respectively.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at the meeting and tasked all institutions in the country to obey the rule warning that they must not go below the approved points. He also said that every tertiary institution must ensure its own minimum standard especially as it related to institutional screening and grading in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), which must not be lower than 50 marks.
”All institutions must abide by this minimum point. This means that no institution can go below the standard. For the 15 private universities that demanded between 120 and 130 as minimum points, note that the 140 is sacrosanct and must not be violated.”
However, this does not mean that scoring 140 or 100 guarantees admission into any institution or course. There are other factors that are considered in the admission process, such as post UTME score, O’level results, catchment area, etc.
Some institutions may also have higher cut-off marks than 140 or 100 for some courses or faculties. This is because they are more competitive and have higher academic standards than other institutions. Also, some courses are more popular and have limited admission spaces.
For example, according to JAMB2024.org, a website that provides news and updates on JAMB and UTME, FUTMINNA has a cut-off mark of 200 for Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Architecture. Other courses have lower cut-off marks ranging from 180 to 190.
Therefore, it is advisable to check the specific cut-off mark for your preferred institution and course before applying for admission. You can do this by visiting the official website of the institution or contacting their admission office.

Are you interested in pursuing a National Diploma (ND) or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nigeria? If yes, then you need to know the cut-off mark for admission into various polytechnics in the country. The cut-off mark is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for admission into a particular institution or course.
The cut-off mark for polytechnics varies from year to year and from institution to institution. It also depends on the performance of candidates in the UTME and the availability of admission spaces. In this article, we will provide you with the latest information on the cut-off mark for polytechnics for 2024/2025 academic session. We will also answer some frequently asked questions about the cut-off mark and how to calculate your aggregate score.
The cut-off mark for polytechnics for 2024/2025 has been officially announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at the 2024 Policy Meeting of Tertiary Institutions in Abuja. The board has fixed 100 as the minimum cut-off point mark for admission into polytechnics.

However, this does not mean that scoring 100 guarantees admission into any polytechnic or course. There are other factors that are considered in the admission process, such as post UTME score, O’level results, catchment area, etc.
Some polytechnics may also have higher cut-off marks than 100 for some courses or faculties. This is because they are more competitive and have higher academic standards than other polytechnics. Also, some courses are more popular and have limited admission spaces.
Kindly note that the above cut-off mark applies to both state and federal polytechnics.

Are you an aspiring teacher who wants to pursue a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Nigeria? If yes, then you need to know the cut-off mark for admission into various colleges of education in the country. The cut-off mark is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for admission into a particular institution or course.
The cut-off mark for colleges of education varies from year to year and from institution to institution. It also depends on the performance of candidates in the UTME and the availability of admission spaces. In this article, we will provide you with the latest information on the cut-off mark for colleges of education for 2024/2025 academic session. We will also answer some frequently asked questions about the cut-off mark and how to calculate your aggregate score.
The cut-off mark for colleges of education for 2024/2025 has been officially announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at the 2024 Policy Meeting of Tertiary Institutions in Abuja. The board has fixed 100 as the minimum cut-off point mark for admission into colleges of education.
This means that no institution can go below the standard.”
However, this does not mean that scoring 100 guarantees admission into any college of education or course. There are other factors that are considered in the admission process, such as post UTME score, O’level results, catchment area, etc.
Some colleges of education may also have higher cut-off marks than 100 for some courses or faculties. This is because they are more competitive and have higher academic standards than other colleges of education. Also, some courses are more popular and have limited admission spaces.
For example, according to MySchoolGist, a website that provides news and updates on education in Nigeria, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo has a cut-off mark of 120 for all courses. Other colleges of education have lower cut-off marks ranging from 100 to 110.
Therefore, it is advisable to check the specific cut-off mark for your preferred college of education and course before applying for admission. You can do this by visiting the official website of the college of education or contacting their admission office.

This is to notify the general public that Jamb is not in control of departmental cut-off marks, departmental cut-off marks will be determined and provided by the institution of your choice.
After the Post-UTME examination, your school will now release its cut-off mark for the year based on candidates’ performance.
We hope that you found our article on JAMB Cut-Off Mark For 2024/2025 for all schools and departmental cut-off points to be helpful.
Your aggregate score is the total score that determines your ranking and eligibility for admission into your preferred institution and course. It is calculated by combining your JAMB score, post UTME score and O’level results.
Different institutions have different methods of calculating their aggregate scores. Some use a 50:50 ratio, where your JAMB score and post UTME score are each given 50% weight. Others use a 60:40 ratio, where your JAMB score is given 60% weight and your post UTME score is given 40% weight. Some may also include your O’level results in the calculation.
For example, if you scored 250 in JAMB, 70 in post UTME and had five credits in your O’level results, your aggregate score using a 50:50 ratio would be:
(250/400 x 50) + (70/100 x 50) = 62.5 + 35 = 97.5
Your aggregate score using a 60:40 ratio would be:
(250/400 x 60) + (70/100 x 40) = 75 + 28 = 103
Your aggregate score using a method that includes your O’level results would depend on how many points each grade is assigned. For example, if A1 is assigned 6 points, B2 is assigned 5 points, B3 is assigned 4 points, C4 is assigned 3 points, C5 is assigned 2 points and C6 is assigned 1 point, then your O’level result would be:
(6 x 2) + (5 x 1) + (4 x 2) = 12 + 5 + 8 = 25
If this O’level result is given a weight of 20%, then your aggregate score using a 50:30:20 ratio would be:
(250/400 x 50) + (70/100 x 30) + (25/30 x 20) = 62.5 + 21 + 16.7 = 100.2
You can use these formulas to calculate your aggregate score for any institution and course. However, you should note that the cut-off mark for each institution and course may vary depending on the number of applicants, the performance of candidates and the availability of admission spaces.
The JAMB cut-off mark for 2024/2025 is not yet officially announced by the board. However, based on previous years, we can expect that the minimum cut-off mark for most institutions would be 180, while some courses and faculties may have higher cut-off marks. To increase your chances of getting admission, you should aim to score higher than the cut-off mark and also perform well in your post UTME and O’level results. You should also check the specific cut-off mark for your preferred institution and course before applying for admission.
