Why I Criticized Tinubu When He Was Governor- Festus Keyamo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Tinubu/ Shettima presidential campaign organization spokesman, Festus Keyamo, has advised the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to wind up their campaign and leave the 2023 election contest.

Newsonline reports that Keyamo said the happenings in the PDP have shown clearly that their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will not be able to make it in the 2023 election contest.

The emergence of the Atiku presidential candidate on May 28 and May 29 presidential primary election, tore the PDP into crisis.

The camp of the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike’s camp which includes Seyi Makine of Oyo state, Samuel Ortom of Benue state, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, is demanding the resignation of the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike and his camp are insisting that Ayu promised to give up his position if a Northerner emerged as the party’s presidential candidate. Ayu has refused. And Atiku, the presidential candidate, has also refused pressure to force Ayu out of his position.

However, chances for Atiku and PDP became slimmer yesterday (Monday) following the pull-out of Bala Mohammed, Bauchi state governor from supporting Atiku. Also, the Benue state governor declared in his state on Monday in his words, “to hell with Atiku… anyone supporting him in Benue is an enemy of the state”.

Reacting to the unfolding events which are making the chances of the PDP presidential candidate slimmer, Keyamo, said, “It is about time the PDP winds up its campaign and pull out of the 2023 Presidential contest. PDP needs a rebuilding process to get it ready for 2027.”

“The danger is that it may fall off as the main opposition party before 2027 if by God’s divine grace, Bola Tinubu wins in 2023,” he added.

The current Minister of State for Labour and Employment also took a swipe at the spokesman of the PDP presidential campaign organization, Dino Melaye, saying “One of the PDP comedians said on TV that Atiku was nominated as candidate of PDP to unite Nigeria and not the PDP. That was the day I knew the Devil has entered WADATA HOUSE and is not in a hurry to leave and has even been offered a chilled bottle of beer and a chair!”
