Popular socialite, biker, songwriter and music producer, Charles Oputa, popularly called Charley Boy or Area Fada, has said he would rather die than live in a 2023 Nigeria without Peter Obi as president of the country.

Newsonline reports that Area Fada said to live in a 2023 Nigeria without the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will be worst, stating that it would be better to be dead.

Charley Boy stated this in reaction to news making round that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is planning to dump the BVAS technology it used in Ekiti and Osun states elections which guaranteed more credible and free elections in the states.

Area Fada, Charles Oputa threatened to there will be problems between the INEC and citizens who are committed to having a good government in 2023 through a free fair election.

Charley Boy added that any plan to dump the BVAS which helps in the electronic transmission of votes by INEC from the polling units to INEC server will be aimed at rigging the election against Peter Obi who has captured the votes of the citizens.

In a tweet on his Twitter handle, Area Fada wrote, “I hear that INEC Chairman is being pressurized to dump the use of BVAS. Who can verify dis speculation. If dem try nonsense….. Dey go shock the wahala dem go see. Mad people. It will be better to die dan live in a 2023 Nigeria without Peter Obi.

INEC Refutes Claims on Dumping Use of BVAS For 2023 Election.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims that it plans to abandon the transmission of Polling Units (PUs) results and switch to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

INEC through the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, on Friday in Abuja, said just like it transferred elections results from polling units to the commission’s serve in Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections, that would be done in the 2023 general elections.

According to Okoye, disclaimed the reports that INEC wanted to rig the 2023 general elections by abandoning the direct and real-time electronic upload of PUs results to the IReV portal by the Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHSS) were patently false.

A statement released on Friday read, “The commission has repeatedly reassured Nigerians that it will transmit results directly from the polling units as we witnessed in Ekiti and Osun State Governorship elections and 103 more constituencies where off-cycle Governorship/FCT Area Council elections and bye-elections were held since August 2020. The results can still be viewed on the portal.

“The IReV is one of the innovations introduced by the Commission to ensure the integrity and credibility of election results in Nigeria. It is therefore inconceivable that the Commission will turn around and undermine its own innovations.

“The public is advised to ignore the reports. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and IReV have come to stay for voter accreditation and uploading of polling unit results in real-time in Nigeria.”
