President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible election in the country as his administration rounds off in months.

 

Newsonline reports that President Buhari also stated that what happened in the Osun State governorship election is what democracy is all about, respecting the will of the people.

 

President Buhari expressed satisfaction and promised in his congratulatory message to Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor-elect of the Osun governorship election on Saturday, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

 

President Buhari in his congratulatory message stated that he is committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections where the will of the people through the ballot determines who wins an election.

President Buhari in his message said, “I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on his victory in the Osun gubernatorial election. The people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot.

 

“This is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people.

 

“The successful conduct of #OsunDecides2022 is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.

 

“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria.”
