Emefiele’s 753 Properties

FG has provided crucial update on the sale of Emefiele’s 753 properties to Nigerians.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has declared that it has not started selling the 753-unit housing estate that was recently taken over from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The estate is linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

This clarification comes after reports began to circulate that fraudsters were asking unsuspecting Nigerians to pay N500,000 to secure fake application forms, claiming they had access to sales slots from the ministry.

The Ministry explained that although it has received the property as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is still working on getting the estate ready.

According to officials, the houses are not yet completed, and proper infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water must be put in place before any sales can be considered.

A technical committee has been set up to assess the condition of the buildings.

The team will carry out structural checks, evaluate the quality of the buildings, and figure out what needs to be added to make the estate suitable for people to live in.

Only after this will the government come up with a clear plan for how to allocate or sell the homes.

The Ministry has promised to make any future announcements through official channels only, once everything is in place.

It advised the public to avoid anyone claiming to have access to the houses and to contact the Ministry’s Public Building or Housing Development departments directly for accurate information.

The statement added that the Ministry is committed to being open and fair in all dealings related to the estate, and part of this process includes protecting Nigerians from scams.

People are urged to be careful and avoid paying money to any individual or group claiming to act on behalf of the government.
