Elon Musk has formally launched ‘America Party’ to challenge Trump and Biden’s parties in the United States.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Billionaire Tech Entrepreneur, Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new political party in the United States named the ‘America Party’, aiming to rival the Democratic and Republican parties.

Musk made the announcement on Saturday, just a day after conducting a poll on X (formerly Twitter), asking his followers whether a new political party should be created.

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party, and you shall have it!” he wrote on X.

In a follow-up post, Musk stated: “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

His push to “reform” the American political system has intensified in the wake of his recent fallout with President Donald Trump over the controversial “Big Beautiful Bill”.

Trump signed the bill into law on Friday afternoon after it cleared both chambers of Congress. The legislation features significant tax cuts, increased defense spending, and a strict immigration crackdown.

However, to offset the cost of the tax cuts and military expenditures, the bill also slashes key social services—including Medicaid, the government-funded health insurance programme for low-income families.

Trump has alleged that Musk opposed the bill because of its impact on an electric vehicle (EV) mandate, which he claimed could negatively affect Tesla’s car sales.

Musk, CEO of Tesla, dismissed those claims.

During his final days as an adviser to Trump, Musk openly criticised the bill, expressing disappointment over its provisions. His remarks sparked a public war of words between the two on social media.

Musk said the president was ungrateful, stating that “without his help, Trump would have lost the election.”

In response, Trump issued a warning, saying there would be “serious consequences” if Musk funded Democratic challengers to Republican lawmakers who supported the bill.

As the U.S. Senate prepared for its final vote on the “Big, Beautiful Bill” earlier in the week, Musk declared that any lawmaker backing the legislation would “lose their primary next year.”
