The Federal Government has directed that the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, be reopened immediately.

Newsonline reports that the Federal Government has directed that the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, be reopened immediately.

The National Security Council, NSC, chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive at a meeting held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.

The Kogi government and Dangote Group have been at loggerheads following a move by the state to seal off the cement plant amid an ownership tussle.

On Thursday, the state government insisted that the plant must remain shut after claiming that the purported transfer of the facility to Dangote was not “proper”.

Dangote on the other hand said its acquisition of the cement plant followed due process contrary to claims by the state government.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, joined by his Interior counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, who briefed reporters after the meeting, said an agreement has been reached between Kogi State Government and Dangote Group on the need to reopen the cement factory,

Aregbesola, however, urged both parties to respect the agreement, adding that the council ordered the immediate reopening of the factory and advised that all issues in contention be resolved legally as the government was committed to providing employment.
