Veteran Broadcaster Jika Attoh is dead.

 

Newsonline Nigeria reports that Jika Attoh, an ace broadcast journalist and communication expert is dead.

 

This Nigeria news platform gathered that Jika Attoh, a legendary figure in the broadcasting community in Nigeria died in the late hours of Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

 

Although details surrounding his death remain sketchy at the time of filing this report, the death of Jika Attoh was announced by one of his siblings who shared the news with close allies of the deceased foremost broadcaster.

Blessed with an extraordinary voice, which singles him out among the pack, Newsonline Nigeria reports that Jika who at the time of his death is reportedly separated from his wife, with whom together they have three kids, battled an unknown illness till he eventually died on Wednesday evening at POSH hospital, New Haven, Enugu.

 

Jika made his fame from the popular Kakaki flagship program on African Independent Television (AIT) owned by the legendary Dr. Raymond Dokpesi who is now late. He furthered his conquest of the broadcast industry with his debut at the defunct Cosmo FM then owned by former Governor, Chimaraoke Nnamani. Parading an array of shining lights of the broadcast community in Nigeria, Cosmo FM Enugu became a leading brand not only in the South East but in Nigeria as a whole. It also became the first radio Station to run 24-hour services East of the Niger. His stint at the state-owned Enugu State Broadcasting Service made the radio and television station a darling of the audience in the new millennium as he turned it around and improved its programming and service delivery.

 

Until his death, which has also been confirmed by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Enugu Chapter, Jika Attoh was a tutor at West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA). Jika-Attoh

Jika Attoh specializes in Broadcast training and management. He is a former news anchor at CHANNELS Television, Lagos, and a former anchor at KAAKAKI – an award-winning Television interview program.

 

He is a Journalism trainer for the BBC World Service Trust (BBC MediaAction) in the EU-sponsored Nigerian Budget Monitoring Project /www.budgetmonitoringng.org/; and a Consultant Media Trainer for ENABLE in Nigeria. Jika has a wide range of experience as: Member, Board of Directors, West Africa Democracy Radio, Dakar Senegal Deputy and Managing Director, Enugu State Broadcasting Service Radio & Television Executive Director, Lagoni Broadcast System CEO, BLAZE 91.5 FM, Anambra CEO, 105.5 COSMO FM, Enugu He is an alumnus of the universities of, Ife, Lagos (Nigeria) and Oxford (England).
