President Trump Administration is currently on the edge over possible Iranian retaliation.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Trump administration is on high alert as officials brace for potential Iranian retaliation following U.S. airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities, with the next 48 hours described as “particularly concerning,” according to senior U.S. defense and White House officials.

Three officials, two from the Pentagon and one from the White House, confirmed that while no concrete threats have yet materialized, intelligence suggests that Iran or its regional proxies may attempt to target American assets or personnel, either in the Middle East or potentially on U.S. soil.

“It’s a tense and unpredictable window,” one senior defense official told NBC News. “We are watching for signs of retaliatory movement, but it’s not clear yet whether it will come through direct missile strikes, cyberattacks, or proxy action.”

Two defense officials said Iran already has pre-approved contingency plans to hit U.S. military bases and diplomatic installations across the region.

These plans, they added, are longstanding, though there is currently no indication of immediate execution.

American military installations in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, and the Gulf region have reportedly entered the highest state of alert.

Heightened security measures have also been implemented at embassies, consulates, and forward operating bases across the region.

While tensions had been steadily rising since Israel launched strikes on Iran on June 13, the direct U.S. involvement, particularly the overnight bombing of the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites has raised fears that Iran may respond more broadly or asymmetrically.

President Donald Trump, who announced the strikes from the White House early Sunday, called it a “precision campaign” and urged “peace through strength,” but also warned Tehran against further escalation.

The U.S. intelligence community continues to monitor chatter between Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and its allied militias in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

“This is a very volatile time,” a senior White House official said. “We are prepared, but we’re also being extremely cautious.

The president has made clear that any attack on American lives or property will be met with overwhelming force.”
