Civichive, an innovation hub of BudgiT, committed to the principles of open data and governance, citizen participation, and data transparency, in a release of policy review of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s manifesto said the manifesto lacked feasibility.
Newsonline reports that Civichive said while it is commendable that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate plans to mitigate youth unemployment and expand the industrial capacity of urban cities, most items in the policy document may not be achieved.
“It is important to commend Tinubu’s plan to mitigate youth unemployment and ezpand the industrial capacity of urban cities,” Civichive said.
In its analysis, Civichive wrote, “A reveiw of Tinubu’s plan reveals that it is built on tripod-reforms of the strural mode of the Nigerian economy, incentivization of the private sector, active engagement with sub-national components, and investment in infrastructure development to spur economic growth. Tinubu plans line economic growth with the functioning of other sectors of the national life, essentially conceiving economic growth as the outcome of multiple functioning processes and systems.”
“After a careful review of Bola Tinubu’s manifesto titled ‘Renewed Hope 2023’, we commend the candidate for his effort in releasing a policy document Nigerians can benchmark his performances if elected, however, we question the practicality of some of these promises.
“For instance, Tinubu’s audacious aim of increasing crude oil production to 2.6mmbpd by 2027 and 4mbpd by 2030 is likely not feasible, with current production of about 1.5mbpd and many uncertainties surrounding the crude oil production.
“Interestingly, there are strong points on the idea of relinquishing the role of protecting VIPs by the Nigerian Police and the creation of an Integrated Identity Database which is crucial to our national security under a strong data privacy framework.
“With Tinubu’s manifesto examined and contextualized, the public can now easily understand his promises and make well-informed decisions.”
