WAFCON Final

President Tinubu has approvesd full payment of Super Falcons’ bonuses ahead of WAFCON final.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the full disbursement of allowances and match bonuses to the Super Falcons ahead of their highly anticipated final match against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, announced the development during a press briefing held in Abuja on Thursday. He confirmed that all financial entitlements — covering the entire duration of the tournament up to the final on July 26 — have been fully released for immediate payment to players, coaching staff, and team officials.

Dikko commended the move, describing it as a “policy in motion” and a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerian athletes.

He noted that under the Tinubu administration, prompt and consistent payment of allowances and bonuses will become a standard practice in sports management across the country.

The initiative also extends to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, who are preparing for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire. Dikko confirmed they too will receive enhanced financial packages as part of the government’s broader reforms.

“This is the kind of sports administration we are building — one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” Dikko stated. “Future generations will come to appreciate President Tinubu’s transformative reforms in the sports sector.”
