The deceased was in charge of Zone 16, Yenogoa in Bayelsa State.
The Benue-born cop died on Monday at a private hospital in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Police spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi has confirmed the death.
Awunah was formerly a Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
