Popular Country Singer and Actor Kris Kristofferson is dead.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Iconic United States country singer and actor, Kris Kristofferson, has passed away. He was aged 88.

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that Kristofferson’s family confirmed the demise in a statement on Sunday, though the cause of death was not disclosed.

 

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our husband, father, and grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, at home,” the statement read.

“We are all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”

 

Since the announcement of Kristofferson’s death, tributes have poured from all corners of the entertainment world.

 

Co-star with the deceased in ‘A Star Is Born’, Barbra Streisand revealed on Instagram how “charming as ever” Kristofferson was when they performed together in London’s Hyde Park in 2019.

US singer Dolly Patron also honoured him on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “He was a great writer, a great actor, and a great friend. I will always love you”.

 

Born June 22, 1936, Kristofferson’s songwriting career made him a staple in country music, with hits like ‘For the Good Times’, ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down’, and ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’.

 

He won three Grammy Awards, including one for Best Country Song – ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ and two duet wins with his ex-wife, Rita Coolidge.
