PDP has suspended four top officials loyal to Wike amid deepening party crisis.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated on Saturday as the National Working Committee (NWC) suspended four senior party officials allegedly loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Those affected include the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature; and the Deputy National Legal Adviser.

Announcing the decision after an emergency NWC meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said the suspension takes immediate effect and will last for one month pending a disciplinary review.

“The National Working Committee, after careful deliberation, has resolved to suspend the affected officers for a period of one month and refer them to the Disciplinary Committee for further action,” Ologunagba stated.

He added that the move was made in accordance with the party’s constitution to restore discipline and cohesion within the PDP.

Party insiders revealed that the suspended officials, all perceived allies of Wike had allegedly withdrawn from key meetings and activities, fueling growing divisions within the opposition party.

The suspension comes amid heightened tension over the PDP’s planned national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Just a day earlier, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the party to halt all convention preparations, citing unresolved disputes over delegates and leadership positions.

Reacting to the ruling, Ologunagba said the PDP would appeal the judgment, maintaining that the party remains committed to holding its convention as planned.

“The PDP respects the judiciary, but we will challenge this ruling at the appellate court. Our preparations for the national convention remain on course,” he affirmed.

The suspension marks another major test for the opposition party’s unity as internal power struggles between factions loyal to Wike and those aligned with the party’s national leadership intensify.
